Guidelines for system users of the products Daimler Truck Diagnostics (DTD) product family (valid from 12/2023)

1. Introduction

1.1 Functioning diagnostic systems are the prerequisite for proper vehicle diagnostics and fast customer service. Careful handling of the equipment is very important. Many damages are caused by improper handling. Such damage is not covered by the warranty and must be borne by the customer.

1.2 The following notes and obligations for system users will help you to extend the service life of your devices. This will save you costs for your service operation. Please follow the instructions very carefully.

2. Duties of the system user when used in the workshop

2.1 Damage due to improper handling will be charged to your service company! This includes for example:

  • Damage caused by falling, attempts by the user to modify or repair the device, and the connection of third-party peripherals.
  • Secure the hardware components against theft and against accidental or deliberate damage.
  • Protect the system sufficiently from

2.2 Storage

3. Processing and settlement in the event of damage

3.1 Damage to the system caused by the purchaser of the system, e.g. in disregard of the duties of care defined in the GTC, is not covered. If there is such damage to the system that makes the system no longer usable or restricts its use, the repair, transport and handling costs will be charged in full.

The following cases, among others, are considered disregard of due diligence obligations in DTD Pad 1 and VCI:

  • Feeding liquid or foreign bodies
  • Cracks and fissures in the display due to improper handling
  • Structural changes

There is also no cost coverage for the following additional claims:

  • For measuring equipment, cables, batteries, adapter cables, the case and the Blu- ray drive.
  • For damage caused directly or indirectly by or resulting from the following, such as building fire, war or invasion.
  • Loss, damage, destruction, distortion, deletion, error or alteration of electronic data by a computer virus or similar mechanism.
  • For any reduced performance or efficiency of the system resulting from installation of additional software.
  • For repairs not carried out by a repairer appointed by Mercedes-Benz
  • For theft of the system or a hardware

Determination process:
Whether it is a warranty, extended service outside the warranty, or full liability for intentional damage is determined and documented by the hardware manufacturer. The warranty is regulated in the general terms and conditions. Please also note the treatments of minor repairs.

4. Documentation

4.1 Always document the current DTD pad 1 and VCI system numbers as well as the serial numbers of all important components in a workshop inventory list.

4.2 Be sure to update your documentation after each component replacement! A non-updated workshop inventory list can result in unnecessary costs for your service

5. Use in IT networks

5.1 The operation of wireless communication networks and the operation of systems in these networks are subject to the regulations and guidelines applicable in your country. You can obtain more detailed information on this from the relevant authorities. Find out about the country-specific regulations for the operation of wireless communication networks in your country.

5.2 Please note that in non-certified countries the radio card of your DTD-Pad 1 and VCI system is disabled. Please do not remove it from your system.

6. Diagnostics User Help Desk (UHD)

6.2 Never send a faulty system or hardware component for repair without first receiving a "call number" (reference number) from UHD!

7. Replacement in case of defect

7.1 No exchange or repair is possible without prior contact (e-mail or ticket) with the User Help Desk!

7.2 In the event of a defect, you will receive an equivalent replacement device that is in a tested, fully functional and ready-to-use condition.

7.3 As the recipient, you return defective components immediately after receipt of the replacement goods and in the original If the return is not made in a timely manner, Arvato reserves the right to charge the service company for the functioning device.

Use the original packaging to return the system. If no original packaging is available, use your own suitable packaging that adequately protects the device. First check whether the system number of the affected system matches the system number specified on the return bill.

7.6 To ensure proper import processing, please use the proforma invoice information and include this information with your shipping documents.

7.7 Be sure to keep the delivery receipt from the shipping service provider. This proof makes it possible to make inquiries about the whereabouts of the return shipment and avoid being charged.

7.8 Do not return functioning or defective

7.10 Provided that you comply with the prescribed shipping process, the return shipment is free of charge for the service company.

7.11 Arvato will assume shipping costs only if the described procedure is followed. This applies in particular to proper packaging, the correct shipping address and the prescribed documentation of the shipment. If this process is not adhered to, Arvato reserves the right to charge the customer for the additional costs incurred (e.g. for additional expenses for customs clearance).

8. Transport damage
